Can megasquirt controll EDIS/COP wit just a camshaft sensor ?

No, it uses the 36-1 trigger wheel.

i mistyped, it should have been:

Can megasquirt run EDIS/COP with only a crankshaft sensor ( 36-1 trigger wheel ) ?

Yes.

The coils will be fired in a wasted spark mode but it is doable, at least with Ford coils.

what about doing this on rb25det coils can i use the edis ignitor in example
the wiring going for coil 1&6 (pin 10) go to both 1 & 6 rb single coils or do i have to use the edis or chrysler coil pack
does this make since i would prefer to use my stock rb coils instead of the edis coilpack if possible

I haven't seen this one tried; unless you've measured the primary resistance and inductance of the RB coils, you'll pretty much have to try this and find out.

primary resistance is .6 to .9

How about the inductance?

how do i check that?

The easiest way is with an inductance meter, although those aren't cheap.

know anyone i could send one to to get it checked

Hi there,
you might just connect the non-EDIS ignition coils to the EDIS and see what happens .
I have measured a number of EDIS ignition coils, and they have about 0,52 Ohm resistance (R) and
about 7,7 mH inductance (L).( on the primary side
If you live in the vicinity of a good technical college with an electrical egineering department, they can easily measure the coils you have.
Will take all of 5 minutes once you find the right person.
Since your coil has a higher resistance than the 0,52 EDIS value, saturated current will be lower and the EDIS drivers will not be overloaded.
If it works will depend on the L/R of your coils. EDIS dwell is not accessible or adjustable.
EDIS modules, at least some that I have tested, have built in monitoring of charging current waveform with some kind of shut down
function implemented.
But , the worst that can happen is that EDIS defines the coil as not performing correctly and shut down.
Give it a try!

best regards

Heribert

i guess it's worth a try i just don't want to take the time to wire them all up an it don't work

Just curious if you have tried this yet or found a definitive answer. I have been wondering about this scenario myself, as I would like to use some kind of pencil coil over the stock EDIS style wasted spark coil packs. I was looking into Hyabusa coils, and AEM coils and wondering if they would work with the EDIS module.

is there a difference in f450 cops & mustang cops when running with edis?

tried with intrepid coil in parallel with no luck & in series i got the led to flash a few times them nothing. going to switch to ford coils but need to know if it matter which car/truck i get them from? on ebay there is some from f450 for $80 for 8.

Does not matter what vehicle the coils come from.
Ford EDIS coils are in groups of 4 or 6. Use 2 ea. 4 coil sets for a V8.
Also the correct control module.

I believe the EDIS truck and car coils are the same.
