No Fuel Pump Activation

Post by Koutsos »

I've recently assembled V3.0, initially to spec. with VR input 36/1 wheel; PWM IAC and High curent driver for dist. ignition and this tested out all good as per instuctions, configured Jimstim and eventually sorted settings in Megatune, happy as! :yeah!:

Decided to go to wasted spark setup so modified board configuration as per Extra build manual, updated firmware/software (2.1.0d). Went about slowly configuring with Tunerstudio and got it to a point where I was happy with base settings. Everything appeares to operate flawlessly on the Jimstim. My initial concern was the fuel pump lamp did not illuminate on the stim, though I wasn't jumping it's pin to earth so now it does. Upon advice (racingmini_mtl) checked voltages at R16 and D4.
I get 4.7V @ R16 and nothing at D4 with the FP led on the stim connected to earth but 3.6V when it's not, and 3.6V at the stim FP pin, ...so now I fail to see how this grounds the fuel pump relay on the relay board... I assume that is what is meant to happen as with the MS disconnected grounding pin37 of the relay board actives the relay/pump. Also, when attached to jimstim, the FP lamp does not extinguish when rpm is zero ...

Attached MS to vehicle via relay board and went through testing of sensors and setting tps and noticed there is no 'priming pulse' when initially powered. Also checked for activation under cranking with no joy.

As an aside, I get a peculiar trigger pattern and, well not much appears to operate (coils/injectors..) All wired correctly and pretty comfortable with base settings... :? Anyone keen to check out a log and offer some advice...? (including what/where to log) ...though initially keen on tracing this perceived FP fault..

Any and all suggestions/advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks
George

Sounds like a faulty fuel pump drive transistor to me.

Thank you Matt, changed both transistors shown in fp schematic and circuit operates correctly.
Now I'm stoked as about an hour later it's idling away, albeit a little rough.. :yeah!: 'scuse me but I've more :RTFM: to do.
Cheers!
