minimum and maximum req_fuel amount

Hi all,

Currently I have some 18.5lb/hr injectors in my 2 litre straight 6 and my req_fuel is around 11.5ms

The lowest values in my VE table are around 30% - which I work out that the PW is 3.45ms which is within spec.

I wonder about using the "number of squirts" and if it's practical to use 3 squirts per revolution to improve engine response.

I need injectors that are around 12lb/hr to give me 17.8ms and therefore 5.9 req_fuel = 30% of 5.9ms is 1.77 which is borderline to work.

What is the maximum ms?

Max pw ms is 32 ms, which is way larger than you will ever use.

But the maximum req_fuel is a physical limitation.

Does this maths make sense?

Code: Select all

7,000 rpm / 60 seconds = 116.66 revs per second
1000 ms / 116.66 = 8.57ms max pulse width
However, the rpm is half that because you can be squirting during the exhaust cycle.

Code: Select all

1000 / (3,500 / 60) = 17.14ms max pulse width
If I were to use injectors that had a req fuel of 16ms

Code: Select all

16ms / 3 squirts per revolution = 5.33ms
Which is still too small :)

I guess if you wanted to do 3 or 6 squirts per rev you need staged then :)

Why are you trying to use 3 or 6 squirts "to maximise engine response"? Full-sequential is a single squirt, and gives the best idle and pretty good response. An idle pulsewidth of 1.77ms (actually +1.0 open time = 2.77ms) should be fine, even with MS1.
