trigger pickup

I've been studying the Megamanual to find out what I need to buy as far as the trigger pickup is concerned. Looks like a hall effect is the way to go. Is this something I have to buy at an auto parts store or an electronics shop? What is the best thing to buy? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Bill

Depends on how much DIY you wish to do. These people do the bare bones IC for a few dollars:-

Some of which Digikey stock. Or you can get ones already in a housing for a lot more money.
