Backfire with EDIS

Triumph 2000 on carbs with EDIS in "limp home" 10 BTDC. MS to follow!

When trying to start the car, it'll backfire once or twice before starting.

Once started runs very well, within the limitations of "limp home"!

Is this becasue the missing tooth may not be at exactly 60 degrees ahead of the VR sensor?

And if this is the case, can I adjust this slight mis-alignment out with the Trigger Wizard? Or should I try moving the sensor?

Or is more likley to be the carbs? Fitted EDIS first, figured that it'll be to change one thing at a time and the distributor failed!

Thanks
Andy

I'd check the actual timing using a timing light. But note some modern posh types with advance settings don't work with wasted spark - you need an 'old' basic one. My old one which doesn't use an inductive pick-up is fine.
