TPS types or none at all?

I'm trying to develop the necessary hardware for fellow Delorean owners to go MS without having to reinvent the wheel each time someone wants to ditch their K-Jetronics mechanical fuel injection system. Several of us (with lots of help from this forum) have gone down the path of alternate manifolds (getting rare), re-purposed throttle bodes and other customizations to get up and running. Now that I have my stock intake manifold, throttle body and other obsoleted parts sitting on the bench, it looks like there could be a generic "kit" that could be created.

Here's the biggest hurdle: Because of the location and design of the throttle body and throttle spool, getting a shaft mounted TPS is pretty much out of the question. So, I'm either looking to find some kind of linear or cable pull TPS to operate off the linkage. But why not just run without a TPS? What would I be giving up? I find that in configuring my acceleration enhancement, TPS is not as good as MAP in any case. If speed density as the fueling algorithm, TPS isn't used, is it? Alpha_N would be lost as an option, as would flood clearing.

Are there other negatives to not having a TPS that I'm missing? Could flood clearing be achieved via another method? Thanks for any suggestions.

Actually, flood clearing need not be lost; it may be a lot easier to mount a switch that trips at WFO than it is to mount a TPS. Speed-Density (MAP-based load) is a valid control system used by many with good success. Lots of older FI cars out there with no TPS. The TPS is just one more input, that can be used to help fine-tune the control system. You can still run without it.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear!

What if you used a pedal position sensor as the TPS feed?

Someone else suggested that and I started looking into it. From what I was able to tell, such sensors look to be very integrated with the specific gas pedal for the vehicle. I wasn't able to find any "generic" or that could be easily added to an existing setup. Maybe I just don't know where to look?

Ok, well we are finally finishing up the install on the Delorean. Is there anything I need to do to permanently disable the TPS signal since we are not using a TPS? The wire is dead ended. Do I simply calibrate it to zero for both open and closed?
Thanks.

I'd ground the signal INSIDE the MS box, then - as you said - calibrate to zero at both ends.
