2009 Kawasaki Concours TBs - Electric "Choke"
They close down restricting the airflow quite a bit, and when they're in the "fully open" position a small cam on the side cracks the main throttles a bit. I'd assume this is a cold-idle mechanism, but it makes me wonder how this is supposed to work? During cranking should the chokes shut, and when the engine fires open them up to produce a fast idle? Or should they sit at the neutral position (about 30* off of level) when cold and open up to fast idle when the engine starts? Unfortunately the bike these were pilfered from had a pretty sophisticated EFI system that I didn't have the privilege of witnessing running before these were removed, so I have no idea what the behavior of the chokes are during cold and warm starts.
