no RPM ms2 v3.0

Post by hemilove »

I have a....
MS2 V3.0
relay board and DIY autotune "ecu to relay board connector loom."
fuel and spark set up.
running with EDIS 4 and a VR sensor for my CPS.
why is it that I'm not receiving any rpm? I checked my wires and all are good.
I am very confused due to the fact that in the assembly guide it specifies to •Jumper VRIN to TACHSELECT on the bottom side of the PCB (near the DB37, opposite the heat sink.)
then to •Jumper TSEL to VROUT (Or VROUTINV if you want the VR input to be inverted) on the bottom side of the PCB, near the center.
look at the:
"V3.0 board - VR Input for logic input e.g. TFI, EDIS, GMDIS, LS1/24X, modules"
http://www.msextra.com/doc/general/tachin-v30.html#vr
and now my issue would be this:
When installing the EDIS 4 connections it tells me these instructions and I do but it just isn't working.

and the wiring schematic
Image
am I wrong in connecting both the VRIN to TACHSELECT and the TACHSELECT to XG1 or is that the way it should be?
also I have a jumper going from tsel to optoout but in the manuel it says to jumper vrout and tsel but both specify something different. :|

please help I will not give up and am very open to any suggestions.
thank you

ok now after a lot of searching I find this right here, and I do as it says.
my connections are now like this:
•On the V3.0 main board: ◦use the 'Hall sensor circuit' (step #50.a in the assembly guide) - jumper D1 and D2,
◦jumper OPTOIN to TACHSELECT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the DB37 connector, opposite the heat sink,
◦jumper TSEL to OPTOOUT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the center.

•jumper JS10 to IGN (this uses the processor port for the SAW signal directly),
•jumper XG1 to XG2 on the bottom side of the PCB, near the 40 pin socket,

If you are using the relay board with a v3 main board:
•the SAW signal connects to the S5 terminal (#11 on the 20 position terminal strip) on the relay board, it comes from DB37 pin 36 (make sure you have a wire connecting pin 36 to pin 36 in the MegaSquirt/relay board connecting cable),
•the PIP signal connects to the Tach terminal (#15 on the 20 position terminal strip) on the relay board, it goes to DB37 pin 24.
I am using the relay board FYI my friends.

this is my baby I want to get fired up a 3tc turbo 2tgeu efi with ms2 v3.0

did all the above and no rpm still? im clueless as of what it could be I checked my settings and they are also as follows:

In TunerStudioMS, set:
•Trigger offset = 0° (this will vary slightly, depending on the wheel/pickup configuration),
•Ignition Input Capture to 'Rising Edge', ('Falling Edge' for MicroSquirt® only if using the VR input circuit - not recommended),
•Cranking Trigger to 'Calculated',
•Coil Charging Scheme to 'EDIS',
•Spark Output to 'Going High (Inverted)', ('Going High (Inverted)' for MicroSquirt).
•Trigger Wheel Teeth to '0' (zero)

what could it be guys, I have checked all my wiring to my ignition module.
I tested the module also at the parts store and it passed, I checked wiring to the relay board and the connection to the relay board to ecu everything is good.
I just don't know what to do.

thank you :)

Which code are you using? You appear to have followed the MegaManual instructions for EDIS. They're fine for B&G code. If using Extra Code, connect as in the Manual for that. Do not mix the two.

Where can I get this code, bc I'm right there to getting this 8 year project done.

Thank you once again

The firmware version you are running is listed under the project option in Tuner Studio (think you had told me 2.9 something, but that was a week ago lol).

Post that number here as these people probably know a crap ton more then I lol.

Check the MS setting listed here under MS2 also.

You may also want to consider loading the latest firmware. Here is a link with some info.

Right - you're using B&G code. So stay with the Mega Manual - don't look at the Extra Manual as you'll certainly get confused, as they do things differently.

DB37 pin #36 to the SAW pin (#3) on the ignition module
DB37 pin #24 to the PIP pin (#1) on the ignition module
On the V3.0 main board:
use the 'Hall sensor circuit' (step #50.a in the assembly guide) - jumper D1 and D2,
jumper OPTOIN to TACHSELECT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the DB37 connector, opposite the heat sink,
jumper TSEL to OPTOOUT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the center.
jumper JS10 to IGN (this uses the processor port for the SAW signal directly),
jumper XG1 to XG2 on the bottom side of the PCB, near the 40 pin socket,

If you are using the relay board with a v3 main board:

the SAW signal connects to the S5 terminal (#11 on the 20 position terminal strip) on the relay board, it comes from DB37 pin 36 (make sure you have a wire connecting pin 36 to pin 36 in the MegaSquirt/relay board connecting cable),
the PIP signal connects to the Tach terminal (#15 on the 20 position terminal strip) on the relay board, it goes to DB37 pin 24.

In TunerStudio, set:

Trigger offset = 0° (this will vary slightly, depending on the wheel/pickup configuration),
Ignition Input Capture to 'Rising Edge',
Cranking Trigger to 'Calculated',
Coil Charging Scheme to 'EDIS',
Spark Output to 'Going High (Inverted)',
Trigger Wheel Teeth to '0' (zero)

Set the predictor algorithm option to 'last interval'.

DO NOT set the missing tooth settings to 36-1 - set the Trigger Wheel Teeth to zero - the EDIS module takes care of the 36-1 wheel - your MegaSquirt® controller sees it as a regular distributor.

If an EDIS module is not getting RPM or spark, I'd first check its wiring and the VR sensor.

Then that needs sorting first, as EDIS will spark without MS. If the VR sensor gap is correct, try reversing the connections to the sensor.

Ok guys so I checked the wires and the tested spark. No spark and wires are good but I'm lost as to what the coil wire does in connector number 8 I connected it to the center of my coil connector my coil is connected and still no spark or rpm. Could it be a bad coil

Nope checked the coil and it was good. Grounded the coil and still no spark. Module is grounded at the same piont also.
