problems using the update program assembling ms2 board

Post by dahgzmikael »

Hello all. Finally getting around to putting my ms2 board together.

I got to the point of the first com check - power and com circuits done. Test with HPTE, and I get echo. Cool.

I proceed and install the clock and voltage sensing circuits, the crystal, and the processor daughterboard.

HPTE no longer talks to the port (no echo)

and the downloader gives me this

Download failed:
Expected response "
Boot>",
but received this "á".

the boot jumper is in place, and I have double checked all my joints and parts. Everything appears to be correct. Any idea what I'm missing here?

Thanks

Oka y - I feel stupid.
I went back and double checked - heres where I'm at
Installed circuits -
Power
Com
Clock
Voltage Sensing
Hall Sensor Input (EDIS)
I have it jumpered for stepper IAC right now, I think. By I think, I mean this - all four (iac1a-js0, iac1b-js1, iac2a-js2, iac2b-js3) and s12c-js9.I was a little confused by the wording reguarding s12c, but concluded this is correct?
im using the DIYAutoTune adapter, and i get loopback with the jumper on the cable.
I also got loopback before i installed the cpu board and the clock and vs circuits, hooked up to the board with pins 12-13 jumpered on the socket.
Now, with the board installed, I don't.
if i plug into the ms and power it via new 9v from stim, the ig light turns on on the stim, and I get the error message show in the uploader.
Just trying to give some more information here in hopes of getting pushed in the right direction..

and just to go ahead and solve that issue...on the ms code download page
http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/code.htm
the file downloads as "Monitor_v3.830a.abs.s19".
I found the list of older versions
"http://www.megamanual.com/files/code/"
and noticed theres no a after 830..

oops. Unless I'm crazy after trying to figure this out for 4 hours, someone might want to change that.

It won't loop back with the MS2 daughter board in place unless you also jumper pins 12 and 13. When trying to load the firmware, are you using the boot jumper?
