downloading tunes to tuner studio

For discussing Phil Tobin's TunerStudio MS is the MegaSquirt edition of TunerStudio, a next generation tuning application. It provides the ability to configure and tune all MegaSquirt controllers and is 100% compatible with MegaTune ini files and msq's.

downloading tunes to tuner studio

Post by 3 window »

Hello all, I recently updated my free Tuner studio and now I'm unable to download any tunes to it. If i try to download a tune from "sloppy mechanics wiki" I keep getting a message that says Java Virtual Machine Error, cant find main class. I've been able to load these tunes in the past, but am unable to since the update. Also, if I save the tune to my computer (under downloads), I can choose it to open with Tuner Studio, but it doesn't load all info for the tune. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Tuner Studio several times along with updating my Java, but nothing has helped. It doesn't matter what the tune extension is, it still doesn't work. I need some help here. Thanks, let me know what you think. Also, give it to me in laymens terms, I'm not real computer savvy.

Let's see if I understand this correctly:
if you try to open an msq directly from a web site, when TunerStudio starts to open you get an error.

If you double click an msq that is on your hard drive it does prompt you to create a Temporary Project and open it, but you don't think it is loading all the settings.

What makes you believe the full tune isn't getting loaded? Do you have the msq you are trying to open?

For the error, can you be specific about what the error is?
What OS are you using?

Okay, after doing a little more research, I realize now that I'm unable to download any tune that IS NOT an ".msq" file. The tunes I'm having trouble with are ".hpt" files. So I'm starting to think it's a software issue with the laptop I'm using. If there is a way around this, let me know. Sorry for any confusion in the original post.

hpt file?
What is it from? That might be an HPTuner file. It would be nice if TunerSudio could magically open any file created by any other software, but unfortunately I haven't figure out how to do that yet.

I bet you're right! The guy that posts his tunes has them listed under "sloppy mechanics wiki" page in a section called tune cabinet. He does a lot of Megasquirt and HP Tuner work. Makes sense now. Thanks for your time and help in figuring that out. Take care.
