Thanks! I don't want to do anything that will further extend my already extended visit to Winnipeg. :D

Re: Help! Broke down in Winnipeg!

Quick question, I bought a spare daughter board just in case the current one was fried. Any time that I upgraded the image on the processor I would use my stim. I don't have a stim with me. Is it okay to upgrade the image in the car using power from the relay board? The instructions say to use the ...

Re: Help! Broke down in Winnipeg!

Looks like I found the problem. I was running switched power to a bus. The switched power came from just off the cars original fuse block. I had tapped into the wire there with a soldered joint. Measuring voltage there while cranking the car showed the voltage drop off drastically. It looks like the ...

Re: Help! Broke down in Winnipeg!

I have been running the switched power on the relay board from my ignition switch for years. As part of the troubleshooting, I have isolated it by moving to switched power from the cars fuse block. Further to that, I have made that a connection I can take apart for testing and have tried "manually ...

Re: Help! Broke down in Winnipeg!

It seems weird that the daughter board can trip the ECU relay. When I can get back over to the car I will check to see if anything on the daughter board is getting hot when power is on and the clicking is happening. Do you know if the relay board ECU relay is providing protection as inacting as a ...

Re: Help! Broke down in Winnipeg!

Hi Matt,

The ECU relay is the one clicking. My car and me are in two different locations in Winnipeg. I was going to go over and do some testing of the power circuit today when I get a chance. Marc P suggested that I test the power legs for 5 and 12 volts then check for 5 volts on pin 19 of the ...

Re: Help! Broke down in Winnipeg!

There is a typo in the above message. " I plugged it in again then unplugged at the ECU. Still clicking", should read "I plugged it in again then unplugged at the ECU. No clicking as expected. "

Help! Broke down in Winnipeg!

Hi,

I broke down last week in Winnipeg. Still there :(

(I am running MS II with spark advance)

I figured it was my relay board which is 9 years old now. Also worried about my home made ECU cable. Got new ones which arrived today. I installed the new relay board and cable but now I hear my relay ...

Re: Injector Circuit Failure?

I read up on testing MOSFETs. I tried it on the board and it didn't check ok. I took it off the board and it did. I guess the problem is elsewhere. I don't plan on losing too much sleep over it. I ordered a MS 1 V3.0 kit today and put the MS II daughter board on it. If I see a really big difference ...

Re: Injector Circuit Failure?

Hi Matt,

I'm using a V2 stim and ohmeter. I've decided to move up to a MS II setup and have ordered the kit but still want to keep and repair the V1 board as a spare.

I looked at the schematic yesterday and am unsure of the purpose of the two transistors at Q3 and Q5. I checked them out with my ...

Injector Circuit Failure?

Hi,

I've been running an old Version 1 board for 7 years now with no problems. Last fall as I put the car away for the winter it died. What I should say is it actually flooded the cylinders with fuel. I drained the oil, flushed the motor out then topped it up with new oil and filter and put it away ...

Wow! An embarresment of riches. I'll try the vertical capped tee deal. I'll have to go and get some plumbing parts but should be able to test it out soon. The fuel filter thing sounds good too but I have space limitations on my driver side fuel rail. My power steering pump is right in the way. I ...

My engine is a 390 Cadillac. I made my fuel rails out of 1.25" square aluminum bar drilled out to .5" id. I am using a Ford F-150 high pressure pump and 30lb injectors. My idle pulse width is 2.0ms. My fuel pressure gauge needle fluxuates quickly between 35 and 40lbs. When I shut the engine off it ...

Fuel Rail Pulse Dampeners

I have been trying to find good information on a source for fuel rail dampeners and so far all I've come up with is the following from the AEM web site......

"Many another ECU use a pulse dampener to reduce the pulsations in the fuel rail caused by the opening and closing of the injectors (a ...
