Odd # of Cylinders Application

Post by ejg3855 »

I have a 2.3L audi Inline 5. I am working with a local tuner to put MS on the car. I am interested in how it will work, he mentioned that it will be batching of the injectors rather than a sequential fire.

As I am still in the beginning of the learning curve I was wondering if you guys could shed some light for me.

Thanks!

It's certainly doable. Does this one have a distributor or coil on plug?

it has a distributor as I am not ready to drop the coin on coil over plug just yet.

What he means by batch firing the injectors is that there are only two injector outputs so MS will fire 3 injectors all at once, then 2 at once, etc.

Ok, if you have a distributor with a 5 tooth wheel inside it, this will be a lot like our water cooled VW install article:

Some 5 cylinder Audis used flywheel triggering, which currently is not supported.

should I still follow the modifications to the board under the MSII V3.57 section on that link you last sent me?

Also can I use the Bosch BIP373 Coil Driver Mod Kit to drive this or do I not need too ?

Those mods can work, and you can either use an external ignition module or a BIP373, your choice.

There are several possible mods that can work. The ones on that page are one such example.
