Saab Turbo Engine Will This setup work?

Post by ashg »

Hi Guys this is my first post so be gentle. my only previous experience with diy ecu's is building and using a megajolt v4. i have been sucking up info on this site for months now and my head is still spinning. i think i have exhausted the search for my intended application so its time to post.

im looking to run a saab 2.0 turbo engine.

the saab engine has a trionic5 ignition/knock sensing system which is quite problematic on a good day useless on a bad day. i have no intention of using it and want to revert to a standard coil pack.

i already have a edis4, coil pack, 36/1 triger wheel, vr sensor, and TPS they are just sitting around and i would like to use them if possible.

from what i can make out i will need to order

ms2 v3board diy kit with 3bar map sensor
boost control circuit
boost control solenoid
knock sensing circuit (not sure if the gm setup will work on a saab block although they are/were the same company)

my fan control is on a thermo switch so i dont need to control that.
i do need a tach out for the dials. currently i use the one on the edis4 which works nicely so if i keep the edis4 it will stay the same. (are there any advantages to junking the edis4 other than the obvious space saving?)

Ok im all questioned out for now.

Thought i may as well go for it for my first post. :D
