Post by stampy »

Hey guys first post here. Ive been reading a studying up on megasquirt and ive read through most of the manual and learned alot, atleast from the stuff i can understand lol. My rig is a toyota pickup 20r 2200cc 4cylinder that only came carbed. Since this is my very first time messing with a fuel injection setup i would like to make things as simple as i can. Any why ive got some very newb questions

Do yo have to control the ignition when going efi with a turbo?
I know i need a air intake temp, coolent temp, tps, o2 sensors is there any thing else i need?

stampy,

You don't *have* to control ignition with MegaSquirt (though you will need some way to retard the timing as boost rises). In fact, the V2.2 board and MS1 were originally designed without ignition control in mind. What you do need is listed here: http://www.megamanual.com/v22manual/mintro.htm#applic (this list assumes you will build the unit yourself)

my plan is to run a msd 6btm box for retard. would that work for up to 10-12lbs of boost? and i like the autotune feature tunerstudio, do i need a maf sensor to be able to use it?

MegaSquirt can use a MAF, but usually doesn't.

The BTM should work. Timing curve won't be as good as a carefully dyno tuned ECU controlled spark curve, but may be better than an untuned ECU controlled spark curve...
