Potential 32-bit MegaSquirt?

Post by Mike Garrard »

Hi folks.
Let me introduce myself. I am Mike Garrard from Freescale Semiconductors, the makers of S08 and S12 CPUs. I am looking forward to contributing on here as I have been a follower since diy-efi days. I have a potential 32-bit floating point ‘MegaSquirt Qorivva 4’ ECU in the planning stage, in co-operation with Bruce Bowling and Al Grippo of course, but like all companies I have to justify my time and resources. I need your help. Please have a look at the plans and diagrams at the link below and if you like the proposals post a comment on the Freescale blog.

The more noise I can create on the Freescale site, the easier it is for me to get budget and raise the priority of this compared to the other things my hierarchy wants me to do. And TBH this is a project I'd really like to do as it seems like a lot of fun. If you have questions, then also post them on the freescale blog as the system sends me an email to which I can respond directly. Looking forward hopefully to meeting you at the next Megameet with a box of ECUs, maybe presenting at some engineering sessions on ECU circuits, microcontrollers, crank position sensing, knock processing or even talking about EDIS (another of mine from a previous career).
Good luck with your projects!

Mike,

Cool project!

For those that want to discuss this, we have set up a dedicated forum here: http://www.msqorivva.com/forum/index.php (it will undergo a bit of tweaking over the next few days to get it all set up properly, but it is functional now)

Lance,

Excellent! I will put up some files for people to review. It's a great place for me to record the engineering progress, and for the community to provide input as we develop the ECU. What I have at the moment is the existing Stage V system, so I can put up those schematics for example. Thanks for setting up the site.

In the short term, I'd still like people to put comments on the Freescale blog, as my managers are subscribed to that and it counts visits and posts. I have 3 competing projects on my plate at the moment. I will make sure suggestions and files are transferred as that blog starts to fade.

Cheers,

Mike

Lance,

Please can you do me a favour and enable pdf uploads? I think most of my information is going to be in that format.
Thanks,

Mike
