Throttle postition Sensor

Hi
How critical is the throttle position sensor to the whole works on a ms 1 ecu ? I read a post were someone implied that the calibration was for megatune only .

The sensor was good , ie 0 to 100 % when set up but once I had to adjust the butterfly to get a better idle it now reads 13 to 100 % . Trying to recalibrate it in megatune has not altered 13% at idle . Will this upset the ecu . I believe it will as it will be fueling like its at part throttle when I an at coast or idle .

I just need to get off my backside and see if I can set up the sensor on the butterfly shaft again , but if it makes no difference I won't bother .

Thanks

Chris

Mudzuk, 13 to 100 is fine - go ahead and tune. The actual readings are not critical, just that MS needs a reasonable reading for estimating TPS rate-of-change (TPSdot) and MegaTune has a calibrated ('synchronized') reading for tuning purposes and for adjusting features like Flood Clear and Fuel Cut.

If your throttle is slightly open for idle then 13% is very possible. If you adjust your throttle, linkage, TPS position or replace any of those parts then recalibrate it in MT.
