my $0,02 .
Have done extensive bench tests on an EDIS 8 module . Spark perfect upp to 6700 , at 6800 dead.
Scoping the primary shows a abrupt loss of drive signal to the coils and PIP at 6700 ish.
VR signal perfect up to 9000 rpm. As far as my test rig would go.
My guess is that most EDIS ave a rev limit function built in , that could vary between different module numbers.

I thought it might be helpful if members could post their EDIS module part numbers, whether they seem to have built-in rev limiters or not, and what your redline is.

My EDIS4 is:

F3CF-12A359-AA

I experience a hard-cut rev limit at about 6100 RPM. All spark and fuel cuts are disabled in MegaTune.

Sounds odd to me. I bench-tested at least a half dozen EDIS4 units. They all worked fine up to 8k or so, which is the limit of my test bench. I also ran a twin EDIS4 setup on my car for several thousand km with no issues running to 7.5k on a regular basis. Many others have reported success in the 7-8k range. I suspect something is wrong here:

1.) Bad EDIS module - swap out module.
2.) Flakey tach - is the limit you state verified in MegaTune? If not, you may have a 'sleepy' in dash tach.
3.) Fuel cut or overboot protection is triggering in MegaSquirt - check datalog.

Also, according to heribert's testing, the MegaTune-reported tach signal (PIP) drops to zero beyond the rev limit. Do you see this in your datalogs?

Hope that helps,
Roger.
