Zetec (blacktop) GSXR Throttle Boddies - None Runner

I'm new to this MS thingy and want pointing in the right direction please, the car is a newly built GKD Evolution (see www.geoffallison.co.uk  ) - I have wired up the MS, EDIS module etc and had the car running very, very rough (the exhaust was so hot it blisteded my new paint job  ) so looked at some of the peramiters and convinced myself that it had the wrong base map (running too rich) and uplaoded the Ford 36-1 map from the CD without saving the original one ..... Doh !

The PC (windows 98) I have for MS has no internet connection or CD drive so loading a base map is going to be difficult, as all the other PC's I posses have these and no floppy disc drive. My other PC's (Vista) are not able to connect to MS.

The position I'm in now is that the car will turn over - I have a spark and I have some fuel but it just won't fire up. On the megatune program whilst cranking all the dials are showing some life apart from the Engine RPM, Pulse width 1 and the Air:Fuel ratio.

I have just ordered a book on the basics of the engine management system to help me get my head round it. Can you give me an idea as to what to look for and how to check it?

Any help will be welcome
Cheers
Geoff

Well, I'd first probably look for a USB thumb drive; they're great for getting files off the Internet onto a non-Internet-access having laptop. Or for getting files off that laptop uploaded here, since this can be helpful if you need someone to go over your settings.

The next thing is to get the lack of RPM straightened out; you are not going to get fuel without the RPM signal, and unless running EDIS, no spark either.

Thanks for the swift reply Matt.
The old laptop I have does not have a USB conection so I guess I will have to change the floppy drive for a cd drive?
I'm going to look at the wiring for the crank position sensor and or maybe change the sensor to try and get the RPM working as I guess everything is referencing off this ?

Yes, that's going to be the key here. Are you using an EDIS module or direct coil control?

Been working on a Zetec ourselves here....
