Greetings! I just acquired a Rover built 1.3SPi Mini thats been equipped with a MS ECU but ive hit a snag. The cars been parked for a few weeks and the batterys discharged. Im going to hook up my charger and wanted to know if its safe to leave the battery connected or pull the cables off. Thanks!

dredpyrt,
It depends on the peak voltage output of your battery charger. MegaSquirt should not see more than about 17 Volts at any time, or some internal components are at risk. A good regulated battery charger should be okay (though maybe not in quick charge mode). Cheap battery chargers may not be suitable under many conditions. If it was mine, I'd remove the negative battery cable before charging the battery.
Lance.

I went ahead and disconnected the battery entirely. I figured from what ive read so far that i wouldnt lose any data if i unhooked anything{hopefully} I inherited the MS with the car and have zero info on which unit it is. Its going to be an interesting educational expierience. Thanks!
