DIY PNP ECU Low impedance injectors and coil drivers

I am wanting to run low impedance injectors on a DIYPNP on a Toyota MR2 as they are bigger but was wondering how the best way to do this is? Do you just run a resistor inline to the injectors to reduce the voltage?

Also

Do these ECU's come with a built in ignition module that will run a coil or do you have to buy the extra bosch add on BIP373?

The car is an AW11 MR2 which is a Japanese import into Australia

Thanks
Angus

You'd need resistors. Many MR2s had a resistor pack from the factory and one of those will work great.

The first DIYPNPs included high current coil drivers (Q1 through Q4) as standard equipment. We had a lot of people asking if they were driving the cost up, which they were. So we've changed the current DIYPNP release so they're optional and lowered the price so that a DIYPNP with four coil drivers is about the original price, give or take a few dollars depending on the model, but a standard DIYPNP is now cheaper.

So then if you want an internal coil driver you need to buy the add on, is this correct?

Any idea where you can get a wiring diagram for the resistors if I can't find a factory resistor box?

Correct, if you don't have one of the early kits you'll need to get the drivers separately.

The resistors simply install inline with the injector power wires. US market AW11 MR2s usually already have one in the factory harness. It's about the size of a pack of cigarettes and has cooling fins on it. If you've got one in the factory harness, you're good to go.
