ignition advance stuck at 10 degrees BTDC - Limp ?

Post by Don »

I have been tuning on this vehicle for a while and it is running very well, but it didn't seem to have the power or gas mileage I thought it should. Although Megatune showed timing was moving appropriately under different conditions, I put a Timing light on the engine anyways and to my surprise the timing stays at ~10 BTDC at all engine speeds, etc.

I have checked and B pin does receive 5v during run and not start.

I have modified the MS-II with the "transistor Modification" and added a second MAP, other than that it "as built" per assembly instructions.

Any suggestions on what to check to troubleshoot this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Don,

I think there are three possibilities:

1. there is no signal being generated in MegaSquirt. This might happen if the IGBTIN to IGN jumper is left out or not well soldered,

2. the signal from the MegaSquirt controller is not making it to the module (I would check the resistance from DB37 pin #36 to the 'E' pin connection for the distributor - it should be less than 1 Ohm), or

3. the module itself is fried.
