Female DB37 connector on MS1 v2.2

Post by StevenD57 »

So I have purchased two or three new and used MS1 boards from E-bay.
The MS1 boards in black cases are on the v3.0 boards and they have male
DB37 connectors on them so the wiring harnesses available from DIY Autotune
seems to work just fine with them. The MS1 v2.2 unit I have though has a
female DB37 connector sticking out of the case instead. So to get any of
the ready made harnesses to work I am having to find and purchase a DB37
gender changer.

Has anyone else ever had a v2.2 or v3.0 board made with the female DB37 instead
of what appears to be the more common male DB37 connector sticking out of the
end of the case?

My off-the-cuff guess is that someone wanted to plug the relay board directly into the MS board.

WAY bad idea and is even mentioned in the manual as a no-no! They are a b***h to change but IMHO there is no choice unless you want to build a custom cable. I have had good success using a Dremel tool with a fine cutting wheel to cut the connector somewhat above the board and extract the pins individually.

Just my 2 cents worth.
