Ignition Only

I have searched but may be using the wrong string. But I have not see anyone doing this. I would like to know if I can use the MS for ignition only. I am going to use it for the TBI I have. But it will be a while before I can get the adapter and things I need to do the fuel. I have the distributor ready to go and would really like to get it going.
Thanks...... Ron

Yes you can - it can be used fuel or ignition only. Although it wouldn't make financial sense to only ever to use it for ignition.
There can be problems using a locked advance dizzy purely as a trigger and to feed to spark to the correct cylinder, as the rotor arm no longer advances and can cause cross firing, especially on an eight cylinder. So make provision to be able to adjust the relative positions of the sensor and rotor to get the optimum phasing. Or use a crank position sensor and leave the advance mechanism operative - ie the dizzy will just to feed the HT to the appropriate cylinder.

Thanks Dave. This is the distributor off the truck I got the TBI from. So it has no advance. I was guessing you could do either or but wanted to make sure. I have to install the tbi fuel tank. Then get the O2 sensor and the adapter so I can use the tbi on the carb manifold. Before I do the fuel. This will give me a chance to mess with it for a while.

It's no bad idea to do either fuel or ignition only to start with - gives you a chance to sort that out before moving on to both. Although the map will likely need altering when you change to injection.
