ignition coil get hot

I have read the manual, and in the manual I believe I read that there is a way of making it so that the ignition coil does not stay with current running through it while the engine is stopped. My ignition coil is getting hot while I am checking the MS tuning parameters. I tried to find where I read it, but cant seem to locate it. How do I stop the current flow through the ignition coil when the engine is stopped but the ignition is switch is on.
Thanks in advance.

You need to switch the ignition output setting (going high / inverted or going low / normal).

The other option is to feed the coil from the fuel pump relay. No RPM = no FP relay = no current through the coil.
