EDIS-8 & LS2 Coils

I have a 434 cubic inch EFI Ford Motor running EDIS-8. The EDIS module drives 8 Delco D585 coils through an Interface circuit. I fire 2 coils at a time in Wasted Spark mode.

I am having trouble with Ignition Kickback on startup. I am on the 3rd starter motor, since I did this. It seems to run OK, but I keep ruining starters. I previously tried Chysler and Ford coils with no problems.

It has occurred to me that in a wasted spark config, the energy from one coil fires one cylinder or the other. In my setup, it is feasable that both coils could fire under certain conditions.

My question is: Do the GM LS2 motors use a wasted spark, or full sequential firing mode?

It's more difficult to produce a spark in a cylinder under compression, so wasted spark will always fire on the second cylinder too.
I'd check the actual base timing by disconnecting SAW and using a standard strobe timing light. Timing lights which have an advance checking device sometimes won't work with EDIS, so a basic one is a better bet. It should 10 degrees BTDC.
