Ford Sierra 2.9 V6 Cologne Turbo

Post by Andymcf »

Hello,

Please excuse me if I am doing this wrong this is really my first post on any forum.

Basically I want to build a 2.9 v6 turbo sierra with a MS injection system but have no idea what I need or how to go about.

The main problem is that am almost certain that the engine I have requires Air Flow meters which am pretty sure will cause a problem. I believe that the 2.9's is a wasted spark engine as it has a distributor but not sure. I have began to gather information and from what I can tell you can buy a MSII board and then a E TFI board to all the standard ECU connect to plug straight in. but i want to do away with the Air flow meters to make it more fuel efficient, is that possible ( am fairly sure you can)?

What i have at the moment is a 2.9 engine which i am rebuilding and a 2.8 turbo engine which am hoping to take the turbo out of and attach to the 2.9 along with the MegaSquirt set up.

Would like to know peoples thoughts? Is it a good idea? Or would I be better to either put the 2.8 turbo in it or just put the 2.9 in it?

Any and all advice would be great!

Many thanks,
Andrew

It's rare for an engine to actually require an air flow meter. The stock electronics might, but what the stock electronics need goes right out the window when you install MegaSquirt,

Wasted spark is a type of distributorless ignition - you'd either have wasted spark or a TFI distributor.

Hi Matt,

When you buy a MS2 board kit do you have to wire it specificity to my engine (stupid question I know) or can I buy one of the pre built ones on your website (http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/catalog/mega ... p-171.html)?

Ok well the engine i have is not wasted spark then its distributor, Fords TFi ignition system.

Is it possible to buy a complete pre wired MS2 Board and plug your EEC-IV board into and wire it up for my engine and plug it straight into the existing harness?

Many thanks,
Andrew.

TFI would need some mods, and it may also need to be modified for some additional I/O.

We can build custom MS2s - contact us directly at websales@DIYAutoTune.com for details - but at present we don't offer the EEC-IV board assembled for European Fords. Sorry, but testing them out is a bit difficult. If someone was able to bring us a Sierra test car, they may be a good candidate for the MSPNP On Demand program.

Have you looked at the ExtraEFI site in the UK?
