Barometric correction

Post by curado »

I understand how the barometric correction works, but I am curious if I even need it. It was explained to me that the megasquirt takes an initial reading when it powers on, and subsequently uses this value to compute the change in manifold pressure from the single onboard map sensor.

So my question is what would happen if you are driving a standard and the megasquirt loses power while the car is moving and in gear. When it powers back on, what if the manifold pressure is still at a vacuum?

Also, the engine has a turbo (10 psi), if that makes any difference between the two.

Got ya. So I could just take a reading at my altitude, and set it based on that? That would eliminate the situation with resets right?

Startup enrichments are another deal..
