Kawasaki ZX636r TBs (Keihin)

Post by sluggy »

Hello!

Has anybody used this throttle body in a retrofit?

I got a set for what I hope was a good price on eBay. They are spotlessly clean. and they were well packed for shipping.

I plan to install them on an '82 Yamaha Maxim 550 and they are the first piece of hardware in the gathering of bits.

HI robert. they should work fine, I believe they are 38mm? The thing that you have to check is what the centre distance on you yams intake ports are and what the TB's are. The 636 TB's are two pairs so if there is much of a difference between the 2 joined TB's it might be difficult.
I have used GPZ1000a3 tbs, pressure regulator, tps and fuel pump on my kz650 and they work fine :D :D

Yes, 38mm...

I'm about 85% sure I will have to fabricate an intake tract no matter what... The OD of intake port side of the XJ550 carbs is substantially smaller than on the TBs. If I have to do that anyway, I suppose I can bend and twist it to fit the Keihin's without taking them apart....

I am busy collecting parts for a gpz900 strretfighter that I am going to start building soon, the TB's are also 636 ons but I am fortunate that I only have to alter the distance of tthe middle centres by 12mm. I will also be removing the secondary butterflys and shaft.

I think I'll leave mine in for future use. I doubt it will block enough air to affect my 550. :)
