Looking for low pressure rubber hose fed injector

Post by Yeshuason »

I am hoping to find a rubber fuel line hose fed injector for simplicity. I recall seeing a couple of them in my past but cannot seem to find them now. Anyone know of one?

I wish to run one with propane, so I will take any leads, but one that does not depend so much on the fuel to cool the injector would be a real plus.

I've seen pictures online of rubber hoses clamped to the top of "regular" injectors. I don't condone it, but I've seen it.

I've used rubber to the injectors (only ~2" to transition from hard line) for 25K+ miles. I dropped a couple of *very* small spot welds at the very end of each injector to act as a flare, used high quality (read expensive) HP hose from Parker and used HP clamps from NAPA. No problems whatsoever. I think Range Rover or Jaguar (one of the Brit marquees anyway) did rubber to the injectors without reported major problems. Please be careful - a high pressure fuel leak is NOT pretty and will rapidly torch your engine compartment if not the entire vehicle and maybe even you if you're not careful.

Propane injectors normally connect to the injector nozzles with low pressure rubber hose. The are often fed from the converter with a rubber hose as well.

Is there a reason that you don't want to use propane injectors for this service?

Early VW had hose connectors. What flow do you need?

There is an ad on thesamba.com for 24.5lbs injectors. NOS for 40 ea. I bought two and they are good.

What are you calling "low pressure"?

Many early 80's BOSCH L-Jetronic type EFI Systems such as FIAT Spider 2000, Nissan, Rover. BMW and many others use a BOSCH fuel injector with a short piece of hose that transitions from the injector to the fuel rail. These operate at 25-35 PSI. The rubber hose portion tends to be 2" to 3" long. This type of injector is not widely used today due to the danger of leakage and/or fires atributable to failed hoses. Typical OEM installations try to eliminate as many rubber hose connections as possible. Assembly time is also a major consideration. The more hoses and connections raise the labor and parts cost as well.
