What % reduction to VE bin for leaner cruise?

Post by jimchristiansen »

Well. I'm tired of having to go to the gas station so often and getting a larger fuel tank is not yet planned!

I've been using MegaLogViewer with a narrow band sensor and my tpi'ed 350 is running well. I'm getting about 10 to 12 mpg and figure that 16 or 18 should be doable. My driving habits give me 26 mpg in my 318 V8 Jeep all the time bigger Canadian gal), with the same habits on the 350 I should even be able to tune it for 20 mpg on the highway... I think.

Does anyone know what decrease % to a (MegalogViewer tuned to 14.7) VE bin would decrease the fuel supply to approach an afr of 16?

Maybe I'm going to have to borrow a fancy WB but no here has one here out in the sticks.

Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,

Should be pretty simple: 14.7/16 = 0.918 so use 92% of your current VE values to lean from 14.7 to 16.0.

You can do this pretty easily in the table editor. Jerry's guys recorded a really cute little video just for you: http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/videos/megat ... select.wmv Select the cells of interest, type in 0.92 and hit the "*" button... Done.

Oh, this is terrific. Thanks for showing me this. I'm talking about Megasquirting my toothbrush now and the other guys are half shaking their heads and half envious! :)

It differs from engine to engine, best best Fuel economy is usually around 15.5-15.8 AFR. I would experiment some. Also don't over look your timing. At lean cruise you need about 40-45 degree's timing.

Good luck.
