Jumper installation

Post by ricardobready »

Hi
I am assembling a MS II 3.0 and have already assembled a Jimstim. When installing jumpers, is it ok to solder jumper pins and use the actual jumper connectors with the proper terminals on each end or should I solder the wires directly to the board? Also, the jumpering is always done on the bottom of the board, right? I am installing it on a GM 4.3 v6 with an external coil HEI. After I have it running well and am familiar with the tuning, I am installing a 450 hp 383 stroker with EDIS, electric fan control and a GPIO when they come out. Don't know yet if there are changes to the jumpers between the 2 ignition setups. Any suggestions?

Either option works; we have found that EDIS and HEI work better with slightly different jumpers. For an example of a mod using jumpers and headers, take a look at our HEI input mod kit:

It's something we came up with to make it possible to switch between standard Hall / optical and a mod we've found is less prone to tach dropouts when used with 7 or 8 pin HEI mods.
