FORD PWM IAC on custom manifold
WIth some random posts found around the web of worried boosters, with the valve only being a fuction of coolant temperature, could it become a potential boost leak issue on cold runs while the valve is open? I am not running this valve on a ford throttle body, or a manifold that has any kind of ball valve or close valve when pressure exerts past atmospheric. Does this mean that when boosting while the engine is a bit cold, there is no provision in MS to allow the valve to comletely shut securely in higher rpm?
I have also found posts on older style ford two wire valves, that simply use two large hose barbs, insted of being dirrectly mounted to a welded flange on the manifold. This seems a more acceptable route for a custom manifold user, as I could then place a secure one way valve in line with the hose going to the manifold, to not allow any kind of pressure exiting the system. Here I could simply just mount the valve out of sight with a small breather filter on the inlet side, then on the outlet to the manifold use the one way valve.
Has anyone else pondered these possibilities, or run into issues? I did a quick search to no avail on the forums, but am still curious.
