Car stalls when 5v ref hooked to module

Post by hiperf402 »

I have sbc running an 8 pin hei module and remote coil. I have MSII running 2.891. Problem is that when I hook up 5V ref from tps sensor, engines dies immediately. All wires are hooked up except for the 5v ref. What gives? Wiring seems to be installed correctly. Anyone else deal with this problem?

Not sure what you mean by "I hook up 5V ref from tps sensor". 5vRef is connected TO the TPS, with a signal and ground coming back. If you have 5vref connected to the TPS signal pin, the MS will think the throttles are wide open when they're actually closed, perhaps causing weird things to happen.

I'm guessing your trigger angle is far off enough that the timing commanded is very wrong, although it could be other ignition settings. Could you post a copy of your MSQ?

Matt, you are probably very right. I was thinking the same thing. Like when I hook up the wire, MS throws the timing to a point where the engine just can't take it. I am very new to this and alot of this computer stuff twists my brain. I will try to upload a .msq file for you sometime today. thanks for the reply. I am a true DIY and am very eager to learn how to do this.
