Stupid Question...

Post by nathanklein »

I have my Base Timing set at 11 BTDC on the crank, I also have a spark table that goes up to 34* at 6000 rpm. Now for the stupid question, does megasquirt or tunerstudios add the base timing in the spark table or should i + or - the base timing to what the spark table shows. please let me know I was getting a really small knock or ping at 3000 rpm to 3500. Just want to be sure before I do anymore testing.

"The only dumb question is the question not asked." (Actually, I can't agree with that completely - after 20 years of teaching recruits I've heard some real wallbangers...)

The base advance or crank angle is part of the physical geometry you input that lets the MS know where the crank is. The advance map tells the MS when you want it to spark. If you want it to spark at 34deg BTDC, enter 34, not 23.
