Cannot get TS to show my AFR with LC-1 wideband

For discussing Phil Tobin's TunerStudio MS is the MegaSquirt edition of TunerStudio, a next generation tuning application. It provides the ability to configure and tune all MegaSquirt controllers and is 100% compatible with MegaTune ini files and msq's.

Cannot get TS to show my AFR with LC-1 wideband

Post by dlenardu »

Just installed an Innovate LC-1 wideband. Got everything wired up and calibrated but cannot seem to get Tuner Studio to read it. I get a reading of 10.09:1 then I got a reading of 11:1 but no matter what changes I make to the VE table the reading doesn't change. I even leaned it out so much the exhaust started glowing cherry red and it was still reading 11.2:1 I'm sure it is a setting that I need to change but I'm not sure what it is.

Are you running an MS1 or an MS2?

Which LC-1 setting did you use, there are a few of them.

But most importantly, did you check the voltage n the pin going to your MegaSquirt? Make sure it is really giving a 0-5v reading. There are 2 Outputs on the LC-1, by default 1 reads 0-5v wide band, the other is set as Narrowband emulation, so it only reads 0-1v

I am running a Microsquirt with Ver 2.89. Matt at DIY said to use the Brown wire which is the 0-5v wire but I did not check to see what the actual voltage was. I put the settings in TS at LC-1 default.

I would recommend that as the next step, then you will know for sure if the LC-1 is outputting the expected values.

For LC-1 with Default programming.
AFR = (V*3.008) + 7.35

So by measuring the voltage you can easily see what TunerStudio should be reading on the AFR gauge.

Have you calibrated you o2 sensor in TunerStudio? I was having the same issue of my AFR reading staying at around 12. I went to Tools - Calibrate AFR Table and re-calibrated the EGO sensor to LC-1 default and now the gauge works.

Yeah I did that. At first I was only getting 7:1 and 8:1 then did the recalibrate and started getting 11:1. TS is reading the correct reading from the o2 sensor. I measured the voltage and did they math according to LT401Vette and it is reading the same. I think the problem is in the exhaust system. The 02 sensor is approx 1.5" away from the muffler and I think it is getting a false reading. I've tried calling Innovate and I've left them messages but they haven't called me back. I'm wondering what the minimum distance is that the o2 sensor needs to be away from the muffler. I can go about 5" but anything further than that and I will have to read off of one pipe instead of both

I'm using a Tech Edge unit on a V8, and the sensor is sited where the pipes join at the back of the gearbox, and it reads OK. You do need to experiment with the delay setting in TS when using autotune, though.
