Engine Pulsing at Idle

Post by Tailwind »

I have a MS-II V3.0 running fuel and ignition. It has been running fine, but today has displayed a problem. At idle, the RPM pulses from about 900 up to about 1700 over a second or so, then it drops back and repeats. Up until now, the idle would pulse a bit around 1000 RPM, but not this pronounced. Above idle the car runs great with good throttle response and plenty of power.

The problem started just after I relocated the 10 micron fuel filter from the drive shaft tunnel ( where the drive shaft hit it) to the engine bay. Aside from that, there were no changes. I don't see how this could be related, but there is a lot I don't understand.

Any suggestions as to where to look would be greatly appreciated. I've attached a log file and the msq file I'm running.

Thanks in advance.

Bill

These tips may help:

It looks like it's leaning out when the RPM comes up and makes the RPM drop again.

Thanks for the help, Matt. Sorry to take so long to respond, but life intruded on my fun stuff for a couple of days.

I've tried your suggestions and the idle is much steadier now, at about 1200 rpm. I'd like it to be a bit lower, in the 800-1000 range, so I need to play with it some more.

Thanks, again
