How much should AFR fluctuate at idle?

Post by kccampro »

This is a question for you guys who have sorted out your engines and reach a point that I'm trying to achieve. How much does your AFR fluctuate at idle. Currently, my engine will move between 14.0 and 15.8 at idle, back and forth just kind of moving all over the place. To me, that seems like too wide of a range for a good running motor. I feel like it should move more than 0.1 - 0.5 when it's warmed up and just sitting at idle. Your input is greatly appreciated.

i found on my bike conversion the MAP reading fluctuated a lot, i put an extra long thin pipe from the maniforld to the MAP sensor to dampen it. worked ok, wonder if you've got that sort ogf issue?

Ok, I'll have to see if my MAP moves around at idle as much as my O2 readings do. Maybe it's time for alpha-n blending?

hi kccampro
mine does too, jumps anywhere between 13.5 and 14.3
I'll be interested in hearing if you find a soliution for it

Sam

Btw, i'm also thinking of Blended Alpha-n. I have MSII 2,8 and I've heard its much simpler with MS3.
I've read a bit about MSII and blending but i must be dumb cause its just making my head spin :-)
