The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.

I am just installing a MS V3.57 that was built by DIY AutoTune. I want to switch two shift lights and a water temp light. I just want to confirm that I can use any of the spare pins, 3, 4, 5 or 6 to do this.
When configuring these switches, how do the output port names sync with the pin numbers?
Sorry for the newbie questions.

Usually pins 3 and 4 are set up for CAN, if it says "CAN enabled" on the sticker underneath. (We've built them this way for the past year or so.) There will not be outputs on pins 5 or 6 unless it was special ordered with extra I/O.
OK, thanks. I does say "CAN enabled" so I will use pins 3 & 4. I'm not going to be using the idle valve output on pin 30. Can I configure pin 30 to switch a light?

OK, that's one I can use. I'm switching the fuel pump externally so pin #37 is available. Can pin #37 be configured to switch a light? What about using the spare digital outputs on pins 25, 27, 29 and 31?

If you're not using the stepper IAC, you can use those outputs to drive a relay too - note that pins 25/27 and 29/31 are paired, so you've got two outputs instead of four.
I have my wiring finished and laptop talking to the MS with TunerStudio but haven't started the engine yet. I have configured the FIDLE on pin 30 to switch a temp warning light and pins 25 and 29 to switch a two stage shift light. The problem is when I power up the electrical system and MS, without the engine running, all three lights come on and stay on. I've tried changing up the thresholds and power on values to see if they go off without success.
Any suggestions?
