TunerStudioMS Connection to Megasquirt ECU

Hello,

I am new to megasquirt and was given a preassembled ECU V3 main board (which is 3 years old). It was working perfectly three years ago. I have TunerStudioMS loaded on my computer. From the assembly directions online it sounds as if when you connect your computer to the ECU which is being powered by the stimulator, the gauges in Tunerstudio should automatically appear when you set the correct mini terminal COM port. On the other hand, when I connect up the ECU to my computer, nothing happens in TunerStudio.

What kind of DB9 cable should I be using (crossover or null model, gender)?
Should the TunerStudioMS automaticaly recognize the megasquirt ECU connection and have gauges automatically?

Straight through.

It should detect the firmware when you click the Detect button. The ECU must be powered up.

Where is the detect button in tunerstudio MS?

I cannot select anything under the communications tab other than miniterminal. Everything else is light gray and cannot be selected. I am guessing I should be able to get to the settings tab to open a connection but I cannot.

It sounds like you do not have a project open. Try either opening a project, or create a new one.

From the main menu:
File --> Create New Project

There you will be give the chance to detect your MegaSquirt.
