TPS and MAP on Microsquirt

Post by anonymous.shyster »

Running a carb setup with Microsquirt ECU and controlling the ignition timing using alpha-N. As this isn't the most desirable setup for a turbo engine, I'm thinking of running a MAP sensor along with the TPS. As there is only one vref, how is this done? I've read that the vref shouldn't be spliced or shared. Is this true?

The MAP sensors generally have very low draw, and it doesn't fluctuate. Powering this off VRef is actually quite common.

a.s,

This is not generally true. Vref can source a number of components, as long as the total current draw is low (less then 200 milliamps or so) and the connected components and wiring don't induce noise into the Vref supply (most won't, but if the Vref wires were wrapped around the spark plug leads or something silly like that, it could cause problems).

As dontz notes, MAP sensors draw very little current, so you will be fine.
