MS1 --> MS2

Post by ReaperCustoms »

Hey guys, im about to take the next step in this project... it currently has a MS1 on a V2.2 board, fuel only of course and Stock distributor with a aftermarket Hall effect sensor upgrade
Image

I just want to confirm ive got everything right before I move ahead. My plans are:

-Buy and install MSII daughter board http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/catalog/cpu- ... -p-86.html
-Pull my distributor apart and lock the advance mechanism's (vac and mech)
-Track down a Bosch 0 227 100 124 ignition module
-Wire the Hall sensor with a switched 12V (crank & run) earth and the signal wire to Pin #24? (currently this is just connected to coil -ve)
-Ignition module will be wired as per this diagram to Pin #30 http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/Bosch_124ew.gif
-I will use the code in the blue box from this page http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/code.htm

Ok so I think all of that is correct?

The only thing im not sure about now is how to set it up in the software? are the setting on the bosch ignition module page the only ones I need to set (and the spark map of course)

Thanks Guys

You'd also need to add some mods inside the box, but other than that, looks good.

Thanks Matt, what mods would I have to do inside the box?

and which setting will I have to change in the software?

Set it up for a points trigger - that looks like a Pertronix Ignitor. You'll need to make a new tune pretty much from scratch, although you can export and re-import the fuel VE table as a start.

Yep pretty sure its a Pertronix kit, just reboxed and resold by someone else.
Set it up for a points trigger
Do you mean in the software or physically on the board?

Could you go into some more detail please or link me to the relative article on what changes i need to do to the board.

Physically on the board. See points trigger here:

Thanks for your time Matt, Really appreciate any and all info.. sorry if im simply missing something here...

but from what I can gather the link just says to put a 1.0k ohm resistor on the power feed running to the points (or in my case hall sensor) and then to pin #24, no mention of internal mods to the MS2?

Im also a tad unsure on why id still use the points wiring setup when it now has a hall effect sensor in place? or is that pertronix style sensor not a true hall effect sensor?

The external resistor would work. Just don't forget to power the Pertronix 12V as well.

A Pertronix has a Hall effect sensor inside it, but unless you want to cut it open and figure out its schematics, the Hall sensor output is not directly accessible.
