Replacement Injectors
I have a Jaguar XJ6 '84 which I will be Megasquirting after a rebuild + some other thing.
I was about to send my injectors off to be cleaned. The price I have for that is about $200 (about same price in UK and Germany - where I live).
The injectors are Bosch 0 280 150 153 with a 236.5 CC/MIN.
For interest I did a search on eBay to see if I could find any. Then found someone selling a set of refurbished 0 280 150 804 with a 336.8 CC/MIN as "Upgrade set" for my injectors. (I am still checking if they really are)
The cost of them is €220.
For the cost difference do I go the 804 set? Knowing that I have removed the Air Flow meter and replace with a MAP sensor (gives 10% more horsepower, from reading articles about the original Jaguar system)

If your engine is otherwise standard, fitting much larger injectors than original may not be a good idea. There is also a minimum opening time needed for idle, etc. However, there are modern injectors which fit and may have some benefits - but I've not tried this yet. I'm still using the originals, but without the resistor pack, as a V3 board can use PWM to drive them directly in batch fire mode. If you intend going sequential, it would probably be best to change to modern high impedance injectors.
Burlen Fuel Systems do an overhaul kit for your injectors - pintel caps, filters, hoses and clips.
IMHO, a 10% power increase by removing the AFM is very optimistic. The major improvement on my RV8 after fitting MS was actually at the bottom end of the rev range. The maximum power is virtually unchanged. The Jag has a larger AFM than the RV8, so I doubt it's restricting things more than on that.
I'd start out using all the standard bits from the Lucas system - apart from the AFM, which you can replace with a tube with an ATS fitted to it. Do make sure the TPS is good - if not replace it with a Vigay unit from RS Components. That will need an adaptor plate made up - but is less than half the price of a new unit, and far more reliable, having a conductive plastic track rather than carbon.

It says 22bhp (12%) for the airflow meter. I will also gain as I am changing the exhaust system 5-10bhp.

Well, it would say that since they're trying to sell you their 'improved' version. The only way to be sure would be by trying one in place with a MegaSquirt and then a plain tube on a rolling road, making sure the fuelling is optimised in both cases. Plenty have changed a flapper system to MS and not reported such a large increase in peak BHP just by removing the AFM. Also the later hotwire has no such restricting flapper AFM, but doesn't produce 12% more power either.luxmoggy wrote:Hello,
