Starting engine first time question, purging air

Post by gboone »

I'm very close to starting the engine for the first time since EFI conversion. When I started this project, I blew all the fuel out of the fuel lines. So what is recommended for the first start regarding getting fuel to the injectors? I'm concerned it will require excessive engine cranking before fuel will reach the engine....not good for the starter or battery. I'm also concerned about disconnecting a fuel line at the engine and having 43.5 psi fuel spurting all over. What is the right way to do this?

Thanks,
Gary

do you have a return line for your fuel? if you do, and the fuelpump is operetaed by the MS, just make contact a few times without starting.. this will make the fuelpump work for 2 seconds each time. after a couple of times the fuel will have filled the filter, lines and injectors...
