MSII + Jimstim step 55

Post by Jimbotsi »

Everything is a success until assembly step 55 in the megamanual. PCB is version 3.0 w/ a ms2 processor running 2.89 code. Every test building the stim checked out perfect and the same with the megasquirt until step 55. It is configured for a hall input with the correct jumpers; xg1-xg2, optoin-tachselect, tsel-optoout and js10-ign. My jimstim is configured correctly to test rpm in realtime, jumped primary tack for a square wave signal and all dip switches off, but I get nothing at all for rpm and O2. If I power cycle the board and turn up the O2 it will turn on "preset" but unadjustable. Searching through the forums is impossible since it automatically rejects all relevant search words and I've read through the manual and forums for a few days without an answer. Any help is appreciated to get me back on track.
Thanks, Jim

I was having an issue with step #55, what did it for me was, on mega tune, Comunications/settings and selected the right COM, make sure that the parameters are good

hope that helps

I am using a DB9 to USB cable but I already checked rechecked and changed the settings in Megatune and device manager, its set as port 1 by itself. With that said I'm going to check everything again retest from the beginning and inspect my soldering w/ a magnifying glass. Will report back.

Are you using a 5 volt or a 12 volt pullup on the JimStim output? If you're using a 5 volt pullup, try switching to 12 volts and see if that helps.

Matt, seems I forgot to use the pull up altogether, put the jumper on (5v) and it came to life. Theres a steep learning curve here, but I'm catching on.

Glad to hear it's working - with the JimStim, you either need a pullup on the JimStim or in the circuit in order to get a signal.
