whats the trick to naming a project? In a new project TS doesn't let you enter a name past one character and then goes to none?

I don't get you here. With a new Project you can enter any name you want in the top text as long as it is unique for the projects folder and does not contain forbidden special characters. The length is limited only by the file system on your OS, but typically is 255 characters.

Once thre project is already created, you rename a project by changing the project folder name while TunerStudio does not have the project open..

Maybe it is because the project is open? I'll pay closer attention when starting a new project tonight.

So I was successful in going into the Megasquirt folder and renaming the file to my preferred name. Then used "open project" to open the project. Thanks for that info!

I have not tried yet to start a new project but will soon, Swear it lets you start typing in a name and then bumps back to the first character and won't let you type. It shows the character typed and then backs up to the first one... Likely me but I'll double check

Hmmm, that is interesting. What OS and TS version are you using?

That field should be disabled and not let you change the project name in Project Properties, but it should appear disabled as in greyed out.

In new project it will let you type.

For renaming an existing project, changing the folder name like you did is the way.

I open TS, close the open project, and select new project. It shows the default Mycar but when you try to type it will only accept one character. Note- even after closing the current project and the dashboard closes the previous project name is still displayed in the header and in the tray at bottom left. Could it be the open last project setting?

Yes and it is greyed out as expected.

The next line down shows the Megasquirt folder in program files location.

Not a big deal just have been meaning to ask. Laptop battery just died and no cord here with me...
