What kit do I need?

Post by gayler »

Hi! First post here. My FIL is building a 56 Ford F-100 with a 5.0 from a 89 Mercury Grand Marquise. He's decided to ditch the factory wiring and ECU. What kit would he need to make this work? If possible he wants to keep the TFI. Thanks!

Welcome! This is a pretty straightforward swap. Any must have features beyond fuel and ignition control?

Nope. Thats about it. We want to use the megasquirt ecu and harness with the Ford sensors if posible.

I dunno this engine, but if it already has EFI, it can be worth using the original engine harness as a basis for the Megasquirt one.

We have a write up on using TFI here:

http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/tech_article ... ng_5_0.htm

It covers both B&G standard code for MS2 (which is supported on this forum) and the Extra code base (which has a separate support forum at MSExtra.com).
