Injector cups for VW 1.6 8v (Flat euro GTi Head)

Post by timbo2132 »

I just finished a Megasquirt conversion on my stock 84 Scirocco 8v using OEM stuff from a 92 Jetta Wolfsburg. Injectors, rail, cups, and the throttle body from a passat 16v auto. My setup is a Megasquirt I with the v3 PCB. No relay board, stock ignition with stock fuel pump relay.

A friend wants to megasquirt his new engine. It's a nicely built 1.6 Euro GTi engine. This is the one with the flat head and dang high compression. It has about 115 hp in stock form on the european GTi with no cat. This engine is installed in an 87 VW fox 2dr wagon. (yep.) The stock CIS-E is not doing well at all. So - we want to do a nice megasuirt conversion for both fuel and ignition. to take advantage of this high compression engine.

OK - So - I need to put injectors in the thing. I've heard that the holes in the 1.6 heads are smaller so Corrado injector cups don't work. What can I use?

Could I use an audi 3A manifold? (injectors in the runners)

I'll have to doubt chech but I think the older CIS heads had larger holes for the injectors, 24mm compared to 22mm. Anyways, if I'm right about that, they're not cheap but, HERE are some inserts that should work.
