The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
Hello,
I am attempting to use the stock coil packs and ignition module (delphi #125692276) on my 02 2.2L ecotec. I purchased MS-II (hasn't arrived yet) # MS 230-K. I am looking for help making the stock stuff work. I was told that there are problems trying to use the stock CPS. I am trying to build on budget and I would like to avoid purchasing the MSD distributor.
Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated, I plan to help others in my situation when I finish this project.
Thanks
im going to be doing a megasquirt install on a 2.2l ecotec. ive talked to several people and they have had issues using any stand alone on the stock ecotec ignition. gm recomends coil on plug or the eco distributor.
what i found out is that the 2.2l ecotec crank wheel is the same as any other gm 4 cyl. im going to be using 2.2l ohv coil module and coil packs. the crank sensor goes directly to the ignition module, and the megasquirt is fed with the opt in from the ignition module (coil plate).
not yet. i just finnished the ms install, however im still waiting to get the turbo manifold built. this ecotec is swapped into a 90 sunbird convertable, so even bolting a stock manifold on to get it running is ut of the question.
mabey talk to some of the guys on www.j-body.org in the tuning forum. most run HP tuners, im sure someone could pull the timing map for you. i will be doing my own timing table as this motor is turboed, so itll be a lot different.
about all i can tell ya is the ecotec likes only around 20-22 degrees total timing.
the person this motor came from was running it in his 2005 cavalier, it was turboed and he was running an ms1 fuel only, so i have his fuel map to work from, although ive set most of the tune up myself.
