Re-tuning ignition with a bigger turbo and less boost?

Post by jabran200 »

I have a car which was already mapped on a GT28 running 1.5 bar and with no signs of det and a/f was perfect. I want to change to a GT3076 and want to redo the map myself and was wondering will the Ignition map need to be redone? I am going to run the new turbo at 1.1-1.2 bar for the meantime as I need to change a few bits before I can run higher boost.

Will the ignition change much if any? If so i think I'll knock off 4-5 degrees to start of with and see if I hear anything on the det cans.

That depends on how well the map was tuned at the kPa row you'll be running in now... And with the different back pressure level, there's a very good chance it will want a different amount of timing.

well the exhaust housings for both turbos are the same and I the previous turbo was mapped and run between 0.8-1.5bar in 0.5bar increments and there was no det whatsoever. I think I am gonna back of the timing 4-5 degrees and go from there if I don't hear any det.
