Megasquirt for j35?

Post by pyroom »

Hey,

I'm new to ECU tuning, and wondering if someone can tell me if Megasquirt will work with a Saturn Vue with the Honda j35 engine (same engine in the Honda Ridgelines, offered stock in saturn Vues). It looks like we share our ECU with the cobalt, but we have Honda's vtec. The problem is Dyno's can't touch our ECU (they can read them, but can't change anything), and we're limited to 70% power, 5500rpm redline & no vtec in 1st gear. A couple of us would like to swap in a manual transmission as well. Would the Megasquirt 2 allow us to tune our engine?

Thanks!

Maybe, depends on how the crank and cam triggers are set up and what else the ECU controls. Worst case is you could stick a 36-1 wheel on the crank, have the MS run fuel and spark, have the stock ECU run everything else.

Thanks for the reply!

just a few more questions,

would mega-squirt be able to alter the shift points of the 5 speed automatic?

http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/catalog/mega ... p-119.html

would that system suit my needs?

MegaSquirt can't, on its own. But you could add a MegaShift to accomplish that. MegaShift has a separate forum.
